Plot
summary and comments:
::READERS REVIEWS::
Flawed but simply fascinating. - Really improbable if you think about it, but you'll be too involved to think. The central character, Grandy, is an extraordibnary, really a unique, creation and he dominated me as he did the other characters throughout the book. A mixture, if you can conceive it, of Alexander Woollcott and Fu Manchu (I apologize to the shades of each).
classic suspense - Charlotte Armstrong does suspense well. This book is one of her best.
A famous, charismatic man may have committed murder. Two relatives of the victim enter his household under false pretenses to seek evidence. Their own lives are in peril as they try to gather clues.
